Sally O'Driscoll, PhD

I have over 30 years’ experience of university teaching as a tenured professor, and now I help other writers produce clear and effective academic and non-fiction books and articles. I’ve published my own journal articles and books, and I understand the process from both ends.

 

As an editor, my most important task is to help you clarify and refine your ideas. I work with writers – successful editing is a collaboration. I help you find your voice and your audience. Together we draw out your main arguments and showcase them so that readers can grasp what you have to say. Once the structure is in place, I help polish the prose so that it’s graceful and lyrical or pointed and punchy – whatever’s needed. My special skill is that I can take academic writing – which can be dry – and make it beautiful. I love an elegant sentence, and I can help you achieve that.
